Belair occupies the plateau directly west of the Ville Haute, between the Boulevard Grande-Duchesse Charlotte and the Merl valley. It is residential in the traditional sense: wide pavements, front gardens, 1930s houses, embassy villas and well-kept post-war apartment buildings, with very little through traffic. The quarter has one of the highest proportions of long-term residents in the city, which is precisely why stock turns over slowly here.

Everyday shopping and food
Everyday shopping sits around Place de Nancy and along Avenue du X Septembre and Avenue Gaston Diderich: supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, butchers and a handful of independents. For a larger weekly shop, the retail parks at Bertrange and Cloche d'Or are both a short drive or bus ride away.
Banking, post and administration
Belair is part of the commune of Luxembourg City, so registration, residence certificates and communal services are handled at the Bierger-Center in the Ville Haute, ten minutes away. Retail banking, notaries and insurance offices are concentrated between Place de Nancy and the Boulevard Royal.

Doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, opticians, hairdressers and dry cleaners are spread along the main avenues rather than gathered in a single centre, so most daily errands are done on foot. The Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg and several private practices sit on the northern edge of the quarter.
Transport and connections
A dense network of city bus lines crosses Belair and reaches Hamilius or the central station in well under fifteen minutes. The nearest tram stop is Stäreplaz/Étoile on the eastern edge of the quarter, which puts Kirchberg on a single ride without a change. Road access to the A6 and the western communes is quick, which is why the quarter also suits households that keep a car.
Eating out and evenings
Belair is quiet after dark by design. Cafés, bakeries and neighbourhood restaurants are grouped around Place de Nancy and along Avenue Gaston Diderich, while the full range of the Ville Haute is ten to fifteen minutes away on foot or five by bus.
Green space and walks
The Parc de Merl, with its pond, playgrounds and running loops, sits on the south-western edge of the quarter, and the Pétrusse valley path begins a short walk to the east. Val Sainte-Croix leads north into the green belt and eventually to the Bambësch forest.

What exactly is included in the rent?
The monthly figure covers heating, electricity, water, high-speed internet, building charges and the cleaning of the common areas. There is no separate utility bill to open in your name and no annual reconciliation at the end of the year.
Is there a minimum rental period?
The rental period is agreed case by case. Tell us how long you expect to stay, including if the answer is that you do not yet know, and we will tell you straight away whether the room works for that.
Is the room furnished?
Yes, and it is ready to use on the first day.
What deposit will I be asked for?
A rental guarantee is paid before the keys are handed over. The amount is set in the lease, within the limit fixed by Luxembourg law, and is returned after the departure inventory once any agreed deductions are settled.
Which documents do I need to apply?
An identity document, proof of income such as an employment contract or your two most recent payslips, and, for non-EU nationals, the relevant residence document. Nothing else is needed to start.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are considered on request, taking account of the building rules and, in a shared apartment, the other residents.
